Tarnish-resistant silver coating, process for depositing and use

A coating with a silver based material comprises a stack with a main layer (1) and a thin oxide film (2). The thin oxide film has a thickness of between 10 nm and 1 mu m and has a silver concentration gradient decreasing from the interface (3) between the thin film and the main layer to the free surface (2a) of the thin film. An independent claim is also included for the deposition of the coating on a support.
