METHOD FOR GUIDING REMAINING DISTANCE AND ESTIMATED MOVING TIME OF VEHICLE IN NAVIGATION SYSTEM

A method for guiding the remaining distance/estimated travel time of a vehicle in a navigation system is provided to simply calculate the remaining distance and the estimated travel time from the present position of the vehicle to the destination even in the navigation system having a control unit with low performance, by using the distance and the estimated travel time calculated in advance. A method for guiding the remaining distance/estimated travel time of a vehicle in a navigation system comprises the steps of: searching the travel route from the start place of the vehicle to the destination by using map data of a map data storage unit according to a travel route search command by a control unit(200,202,204); calculating the distance of the travel route while selecting each link of the travel route from the start place to the destination in sequence(206); detecting the present position of the vehicle as the vehicle moves and matching and displaying the present position on the map data(210,212,214); and calculating and guiding the distance from the detected present position of the vehicle to the destination by using the calculated distance of the travel route(216).
