Trailing-edge flaps (11) and stallstrips (12) adjust the maximum lift of wings (10). Sensors (13) register an actual wing load at any given time during the flight of the airplane (1). A control device (20) acts on trailing-edge flaps and stallstrips to reduce maximum possible lift of the wings when the actual wing load reaches a predetermined value.
