A backlight unit for an LCD and a method for manufacturing a corn type of brightness enhancing film are provided to improve the light condensing efficiency even while reducing the number of brightness enhancing films, by forming the brightness enhancing film to have corn shaped structure bodies. A light emitting part(100) is configured to generate a light. A light guiding plate(200) converts a linear type of light emitted from the light emitting part into a surface type of light. A diffusion sheet(300) is positioned above the light guiding plate to scatter the light. A reflective plate(400) is positioned below the light guiding plate to reflect the light. A brightness enhancing film(500) is positioned on an upper surface of the diffusion sheet. The brightness enhancing film is composed of a substrate and corn shape structure bodies arranged on an upper surface of the substrate. A protective sheet(600) is formed on an upper surface of the brightness enhancing film.
