A method for calibrating terrestrial magnetic data in a mobile communication terminal having a terrestrial magnetic sensor and the mobile communication terminal therefor are provided to effectively reduce a terrestrial magnetic data measurement error capable of being generated by an LED(Light Emitting Diode) operation and acquire accurate terrestrial magnetic data by performing the calibration of terrestrial magnetic data to remove terrestrial magnetic data generated by an LED unit from terrestrial magnetic data measured by a terrestrial magnetic sensor. An LED unit(113) includes an LED for emitting light. A terrestrial magnetic sensor(120) measures terrestrial magnetic data. A control unit(150) receives the terrestrial magnetic data from the terrestrial magnetic sensor(120), and judges whether an operation of the LED unit(113) is in an on-state. If the operation of the LED unit(113) is in the on-state, the control unit(150) performs the calibration of the terrestrial magnetic data to remove terrestrial magnetic data generated by the LED unit(113) from the received terrestrial magnetic data.
