A fly-eye lens sheet with a light-shielding layer, a manufacturing method thereof, a transmission type screen, and a backside projection type image display apparatus are provided to increase contrast of a displayed image by increasing the size of a light-shielding layer while preventing degradation of the image transmittance ratio. A backside projection type image display apparatus includes a projector(1) and a transmissive screen(2). An image, which is projected from the projector, is displayed on the transmissive screen. The projector magnifies and projects the image on the transmissive screen. The projector includes a transmissive LCD or a reflective LCD(Liquid Crystal Display). The transmissive screen includes a Fresnel lens sheet(20) and a fly-eye lens sheet(10), which is attached to a light-shielding layer. The Fresnel lens sheet receives the projection beam from the projector and emits the received beam as a parallel beam. The fly-eye lens sheet receives the parallel beam from the Fresnel lens sheet, magnifies the received beam both in horizontal and vertical directions, and outputs the result as a display beam.
