A routing path setup method using virtual sinks and rotations in wireless sensor networks is provided to be capable of setting virtual sinks in a sensor network communication system, thus efficiency of message transmission between each sensor node and mobile sinks is increased while life span of the networks is increased. Virtual sinks are selected among plural sensor nodes(S200). The virtual sinks broadcast tree setup messages to the plural sensor nodes, and the plural sensor nodes which receive the messages re-broadcast the tree setup messages to configure virtual sink trees(S210). A sink transmits a virtual path setup message to the virtual sinks through sensor nodes adjacent to the sink, so as to set virtual paths up to the sink from the virtual sinks(S220).
