Control of plant viruses with its extract of endemic strain Serratia spp. Gsm01

An endemic microorganism, Serratia spp. Gsm01, for controlling plant viruses, extract of its cultured medium, and a composition for controlling plant viruses containing the same extract are provided to effectively control plant viruses including cucumber mosaic virus(CMV), tobacco mosaic virus(TMV) and potato virus Y(PVY) without toxicity to human and environments. The endemic microorganism, Serratia spp. Gsm01(KCCM-10738P), for controlling plant viruses is provided, wherein Serratia spp. Gsm01(KCCM-10738P) is isolated from the soil where ginseng is raised. The composition for controlling plant viruses comprises Serratia spp. Gsm01(KCCM-10738P) or its cultured medium as an effective ingredient. The cultured medium extract of Serratia spp. Gsm01(KCCM-10738P) is prepared by (1) culturing Serratia spp. Gsm01(KCCM-10738P) in Muller Hinton medium at 25-30 deg. C for 12-72 hours, (2) heating the cultured medium at 95-100 deg. C for 10-30 minutes, and extracting it with water, and (3) filtering the extract with ultracentrifugation to separate substances having molecular weight of 100,000 or more, and subjecting the separated substances to gel filtration chromatography.
