STENT REMOVAL AND REPOSITIONING DEVICE AND ASSOCIATED METHOD

A stent removal device (24) for removing or repositioning a stent (10) from within a lumen is provided. The stent (10) typically comprises at least one suture (16) arranged circumferentially about the stent (10). The stent removal device includes a tube (26) positioned within the lumen proximate to the stent (10), wherein the tube (26) is capable of receiving at least at portion of the stent (10). The stent removal device (24) also includes a pusher (28) positioned within the tube (26) and capable of engaging the stent (10) or the suture (16). The stent removal device (24) further includes a hook (30) positioned within the tube (26) and capable of engaging the suture (16) such that force applied to the hook (30) causes the stent (10) to purse string.
