A glycoprotein isolated from Gardenia jasminoides Ellis, and a hepatoprotective, hypolipidemic and anti-inflammatory pharmaceutical composition containing the same glycoprotein are provided to improve removal of reactive oxygen species synthesized in human body and avoid side effects caused by reactive oxygen species removal. The hepatoprotective, hypolipidemic and anti-inflammatory pharmaceutical composition contains the glycoprotein isolated from Gardenia jasminoides Ellis as an effective ingredient, wherein the Gardenia jasminoides Ellis glycoprotein contains 50-65% of sugars and 35-50% of proteins, and has molecular weight of 25-30 kDa; and is prepared by pulverizing the Gardenia jasminoides Ellis and dipping it in 99% ethanol for several months, filtering the ethanol extract with filter paper, concentrating it with a rotary evaporator, freeze-drying the concentrate, dissolving the freeze-dried ethanol extract in distilled water, precipitating proteins of the solution with 80% ammonium sulfate, dialyzing the solution in 20mM Tris buffer(pH 7.4) at 4 deg.C for 1 day, and freeze-drying the dialyzed product.
