An apparatus and a method for measuring the viscosity of a molten metal are provided to measure the temperature of the molten metal by using a thermocouple mounted to a mold. An apparatus and a method for measuring the viscosity of a molten metal includes a mold(10), a molten metal injecting unit(20), a thermocouple(30), a temperature measuring system(40), an X-ray unit, a camera, and a cabinet(50). The molten metal injecting unit injects the molten metal into the mold. The thermocouple is mounted to the mold. The temperature measuring system measures the temperature through the thermocouple and transmits it to a computer. The X-ray unit radiates the X-ray to the mold. The camera photographs the X-ray penetrating the mold.
