APPARATUS AND METHOD OF BPSK/QPSK BLIND MODULATION CLASSIFICATION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

An apparatus and a method for BPSK/QPSK blind modulation classification in a wireless communication system are provided to perform modulation classification with very low calculation complexity by using a matched-filtered base band signal without estimating a signal to noise ratio(SNR) and an additional recoverer. According to an apparatus for modulation classification in a wireless communication system, a distance calculation unit(11) calculates distance of each received base band signal as to each modulation scheme(BPSK/QPSK) in a set of a modulation scheme requiring modulation classification. A flag setting unit(12) selects a minimum value of the calculated distances, and sets a flag corresponding thereto. A flag adding unit(13) adds flags corresponding to each modulation scheme(BPSK/QPSK) obtained through the flag setting unit. A modulation scheme flag setting unit(14) selects a maximum value of the flag added through the flag adding unit, and sets a modulation scheme flag corresponding to the selected value. A modulation scheme determination unit(15) obtains a sum of flag corresponding to each classification scheme(BPSK/QPSK) by receiving the flag set from the flag setting unit, and classifies a modulation scheme having a larger sum value of the flag as an actual modulation scheme.
