A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiving terminal for converting an operating mode according to a display mode and an operation mode conversion method are provided to recognize the display change mode of a user and perform a call mode or a DMB mode according to the changed display mode. When a display mode is a landscape mode, a control member inputs an activation signal to a DMB module(200,202). The control member controls a DMB-modem switch so that an image information output path and a key input path are connected with the DMB module(204). The control member checks a display mode according to the rotation state of a display member by means of a display mode sensing member(206). If the display mode is changed into a portrait mode, the control member converts the operation mode into a call mode(216).
