A composition comprising prodigiosin is provided to selectively inhibit the proliferation of T cell and have the Immunosuppressant activity of not influencing on signaling after IL-2 recipient is combined with the T-cell, thereby being effectively used for preventing and treating acute graft-versus-host disease. The composition for preventing or treating acute graft-versus-host disease comprises prodigiosin isolated from Serratia marcescence B-1231 KCTC 0386BP as an effective ingredient. The prodigiosin in the composition is able to be administered together with cyclosporine A so as to treat the acute graft-versus-host disease.
