METHOD FOR PREPARING LONG-CHAINED LIPIDS WITH THE HIGH CONCENTRATION OF POLICOSANOL OR OCTACOSANOL FROM GRAIN SORGHUM

Provided is a method for preparing long-chained lipids with a high concentration of policosanol or octacosanol, whereby the long-chained lipids are obtained from sorghum in a simple manner without going through a saponification step. The method for preparing long-chained lipids with a high concentration of policosanol or octacosanol comprises the steps of: adding organic solvent to a sorghum to be distilled for 15-120minutes at a temperature below a boiling point of the solvent or pouring heated organic solvent over a sorghum, followed by separating a hot liquid fraction; keeping the separated liquid fraction at -40 to 5‹C for 1-48hours to form precipitates; filtering or centrifuging the solution to obtain precipitates; and removing out remaining organic solvent from the precipitates at vacuum, partial vacuum, or atmospheric pressure.
