A single-phase active power filter using a rotating reference frame is provided to enhance a compensation characteristic by using the single-phase active power filter for each load group. In a single-phase active power filter(100) using a rotating reference frame, a power detector(110) detects a distorted signal generated by a non-linear load(30). A harmonics detector(130) generates an arbitrary virtual phase with a signal input through the power detector(110). The harmonics detector(130) detects harmonics by using positive and negative phase sequence components of the rotating reference frame. The rotating reference frame is synchronized with a power frequency through a predetermined control algorithm. The harmonics detector(130) obtains a compensation reference voltage of the harmonics. A PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) generator(150) compares a predetermined triangle wave reference signal and a compensation reference signal outputted from the harmonics detector(130) and then outputs a pulse width modulation signal. An inverter driving unit(170) drives a gate of an inverter(50) with the PWM signal.
