A system and a method for providing an information retrieval and virtual community by using mobile terminals are provided to grant mobility to active utilization of various information and space, provided through the Internet only, by providing a service capable of acquiring or providing desired information through an information retrieval and virtual community in a bidirectional communication method by using mobile terminals. An information retrieval and virtual community providing system comprises a mobile terminal(100), an information intermediary system(200), and an information storage database(400). The mobile terminal(100) requests an information retrieval service, and inputs information. The information intermediary system(200) searches for the information that the mobile terminal(100) requests, and provides a response to the mobile terminal. The information storage database(400) comprises an information storage database. The information storage database stores the results processed at the information intermediary system(200), and creates a virtual community.
