One type of engine cylinders in 2-stroke crosshead internal combustion engine is temporarily placed under a fault condition of a continuous five-ignition (misfire) without any fuel injection. Excessive torsional vibration caused therefrom can be reduced or removed by one or more of the following steps. ; a) step in the entire engine cycle, at least one exhaust valve of the cylinder under the successive blemish upset error state is closed for the state, and / or, ; b) at least one stage that is placed inside the cylinder ignition conditions of O that is not in an error state of a continuous O-ignition. ; Torsional vibrations
