METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING CONGESTION IN HIGH BANDWIDTH-DELAY PRODUCT NETWORKS

A method and an apparatus for controlling congestion in HBDT(High Bandwidth-Delay Product) networks are provided to prevent loss in an SS(Slow Start) step by using a predicting method of a buffer size in an initial start step. A method for controlling congestion in HBDT networks includes the steps of: predicting a size of a buffer for storing transmitted packets(220); converting to a first CA(Congestion Avoidance) step at the time when packet loss is generated during congestion control of a first SS step, during initial driving through the predicted buffer size(260); performing congestion control to secure a usable band by using delay information in the CA step(270); converting to a second SS step if rapidly securing the band in the CA step is required(290); and converting to a second CA step before the packet loss is generated after the congestion control using the delay information in the second SS step.
