An apparatus and a method for allocating a subcarrier of a band AMC(Adaptive Modulation Coding) subchannel in an OFDMA system are provided to reduce a hardware area and power consumption by reducing a calculation quantity and simplifying a structure. An apparatus for allocating a subcarrier of a band AMC subchannel in an OFDMA system includes a memory unit(131), an allocation unit(132), and a data mapping unit(133). The memory unit(131) stores a plurality of subcarrier indexes to be mapped in a plurality of data symbols for a reference base station identifier. The subcarrier index allocation unit(132) compares the inputted base station identifier with the plurality of subcarrier indexes stored in the memory, and allocates the subcarrier indexes to which the plurality of data symbols for the inputted base station identifier are mapped. The data mapping unit(133) maps the data symbol corresponding to the allocated subcarrier indexes.
