METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING SERVICE ON SIP-BASED INTERNET TELEPHONY SYSTEM

A method and a system for providing a service in an Internet phone system using an SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) are provided to allow a user to perform normal call communication through text transmission/reception when call communication through voice transmission/reception is not available. Each SIP service terminal registers its address for performing call communication through an SIP service and an extra type of a call to be used for the call communication(100). When a call service is requested to the address corresponding to the terminal that provides the service, it is checked whether there is an extra type of a call which has been previously registered by the terminal corresponding to the address(110). When there is an extra type of a call, a call of one person is converted according to the extra type of the call and then provided to another person to thus provide a call service(120).
