A multimedia message receiving system capable of selectively receiving contents and a multimedia message service center capable of selectively transmitting the contents are provided to enable a user to selectively download desired contents only among all contents which constitute a high-capacity multimedia message, thereby realizing the user's convenience. A message reception notifier(210) notifies a message receiver that an MMS(Multimedia Message Service) message is received, as the message is notified from an MMSC(MMS Center)(200). If the message receiver demands message confirmation, a contents selector(120) provides a UI(User Interface) for selecting contents, and receives selection for at least more than one content from the message receiver. A contents requester(130) requests the selected contents only to be transmitted among contents which constitute the MMS message. A contents receiver(140) receives the requested contents, and displays the contents on a screen.
