A system and a method for providing prior art information are provided to remove necessity of requesting prior art search in each patent application and enable a user to easily obtain the prior art information by periodically providing the prior art information corresponding to a field. A client database(103) stores client information including client PC ID information. A keyword database(104) stores keywords generated from each user. A search result database(105) stores a result which is obtained by using the keyword generated from a prior art search server. A prior art search result generator(106) generates a result by searching the prior art information and including the client information to the search result. A controller(102) generates the keyword by each client and controls each component for generating/transmitting the search result to the client PC. An interface(101) is connected to the search server to perform the prior art search through the Internet, receives a request for searching the prior art from the client PC, and provides the result to the client PC.
