A polarizer apparatus of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device for improving polarization efficiency and a birefringent Fresnel lens are provided to increase the light efficiency by securing 100% of deformation and 0% of noise and maximally using P and S wave components of the incident light and to improve maximum luminance by 10%. A birefringent Fresnel lens is composed of an isotropic layer(61) having a single refractive index; a Fresnel lens layer(62) shaped the same as the outer surface of a center portion to secure various angles of refraction; and a birefringent layer(63) made of a birefringent medium to set the refractive indexes of peripheral parts(64,67) and center portions(65,66) oppositely to each other according to the polarization state of the light.
