A VoIP system for ensuring voice quality and a method thereof are provided to minimize subscriber obstacles and offer a better VoIP service by automatically eliminating a voice quality obstacle, which can be generated due to an RTP collision in case a call is not released normally when the telephone conversation between subscriber terminals is finished. A VoIP system for ensuring voice quality comprises the first media gateway(10), a soft switch(30), and the second media gateway(20). The first media gateway transmits an error message in case a voice packet is transmitted with information which is different from the remote RTP information received in the process of signaling for a call connection. The soft switch, receiving the error message, transmits a call subtract request signal for a subscriber terminal having an termination ID, which transmits a voice packet with different information from the remote RTP information, according to the RTP information transmitted from the first media gateway. Based on the call subtract request signal, the second media gateway releases the subscriber terminal's connection, and transmits a subtract complete message to the soft switch.
