A method for preparing a magnetic nanocomposite is provided to obtain the magnetic nanocomposite which shows high stability in an aqueous solution and little biotoxicity, thereby being widely applied to diagnose and treat a living body. The method comprises the steps of: (a) synthesizing nanoparticles in a solvent by reacting an organic surface stabilizer with precursors of nanoparticles in presence of a solvent and pyrolyzing the resulting reactant; and (b) adding an amphiphilic compound having a hydrophobic domain and a hydrophilic domain to the surfaces of nanoparticles so as to bind the amphiphilic compound and nanoparticles. The magnetic nanoparticle is a metal, a magnetic material, or a magnetic alloy, the hydrophobic domain is a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid, or a hydrophobic polymer, and the hydrophilic domain is a biodegradable polymer.
