A method and an apparatus for sharing pictures and adding comments in a portable terminal are provided to enable picture management sharing through an SMS(Short Message Service) and an MMS(Multimedia Messaging Service), thereby improving convenience in photo-sharing of a user. A method for sharing pictures and adding comments in a portable terminal comprises the following steps of: registering pictures, which will be share, after selecting a picture share mode(S11); informing the other user for picture sharing of the shared picture registration through the SMS(Short Message Service)(S12); determining whether the other party request pictures after informing sharing of the pictures(S13); if so, transmitting the corresponding shared picture through the MMS(Multimedia Messaging Service)(S14); determining whether there is a picture comment from the other party related to the transmitted picture(S15); and if so, adding the comment to the shared picture and storing the shared picture together with the comment(S16).
