摘要

A method for optimizing a reproducing channel in an idle state of a hard disc drive and a hard disc drive performing the method are provided to change coefficient of an FIR(finite impulse response) filter according to temperature. A Viterbi detector calculates a channel statistical measurement value in response to a signal output from an adaptive equalizer having first coefficient values. The adaptive equalizer changes the first coefficient values into second coefficient values through adaptation. The detector calculates the channel statistical measurement value in response to the signal outputted from the equalizer having the second coefficient values. The first coefficient value are renewed to the second coefficient values if the channel statistical measurement value calculated in the latter calculation step is smaller than the channel statistical measurement value calculated in the former calculation step.
