METHOD FOR CUTTING DOWN A CONSUMPTION POWER OF A DIGITAL BROADCASTING RECEIVER USING A DETECTION OF ERROR RATE

A method for reducing power consumption by using the detection of an error rate in a digital broadcasting receiver is provided to convert a mode of the digital broadcasting receiver into a power-saving mode when a byte value of the error rate is higher than a reference value and receive a broadcasting signal by only a uniform time unit. A microcomputer calculates an error rate according as a digital broadcasting receiver receives a broadcasting signal(S200,S202). The microcomputer judges whether the calculated error rate is higher than a predetermined reference value(S204). When the calculated error rate is higher than the predetermined reference value, the microcomputer drives a timer of the digital broadcasting receiver(S206). If the timer arrives at predetermined reference time(S208), the microcomputer converts a mode of the digital broadcasting receiver into a power-saving mode(S210).
