A system and a method for managing wandering of a dementia patient are provided to manage the wandering of the dementia patient and gradually take suitable measures according to each situation by checking entry of the dementia patient at each gate of a predetermined area through the WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network). A dementia patient communication terminal stores and transmits unique dementia patient information through the WLAN. A gate communication terminal is installed to each gate, receives the unique dementia patient information by wireless local communication with the dementia patient communication terminal, and generates an entry-related message for the dementia patient. A dementia patient management center terminal(430) transmits entry-related information of the dementia patient to a related subject by receiving the entry-related message from the gate communication terminal and checking the unique dementia patient information based on the received message. The dementia patient communication terminal comprises an electronic tag(400) and the gate communication terminal is a reader(410a-410c) for reading the electronic tag.
