CODE DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS USER EQUIPMENT FOR ESTIMATING INTERFERENCE SIGNAL CODE POWER AND A NOISE VARIANCE

A CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) UE(User Equipment) for estimating ISCP(Interference Signal Code Power) and noise variance is provided to implement a method for estimating ISCP and noise variance through partial sample averaging. A CDMA UE for estimating ISCP and noise variance is comprised of a channel estimation block(12), a noise variance estimation block(14), and a midamble detection block(18). The channel estimation block(12) comprises an output to create channel estimation samples respectively for plural midamble shifts. The noise variance estimation block(14) comprises an input to receive the channel estimation samples and an output to create the estimation of ISCP. The midamble detection block(18) comprises an output to create an active midamble shift indicator. The noise variance estimation block(14) comprises an input to receive the active midamble shift indicator.
