METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PAGING IN HETEROGENEOUS WIRELESS NETWORKS FOR LOW POWER CONSUMPTION OF MOBILE TERMINALS

A paging method for minimizing power consumption of a terminal in heterogeneous wireless network environments and an apparatus therefor are provided to prevent unnecessary power consumption caused by opening every network interface. An HA(Home Agent)(100) receives a packet from the first terminal(240), maps destination IP address of the packet and a binding list, and requests paging to the destination IP address of the packet(S100,S110). A heterogeneous network controller(110) maps an IMSI(International Mobile Station Identity) home address table and the IP address in response to the request of paging, and outputs a paging request message(S130). An HLR(Home Location Register)(120) transfers a page message to an MS(Mobile Station)(230) in response to the paging request message(S140).
