Network Processor and the method is disclosed for IPv6 sender -based multicast packet forwarding. Ingress forwarding engine parts forwarders network processor and identify whether the packet based on the destination address of the packet sender -based IPv6 multicast packet , the packet is IPv6 -based multi- sender multicast address when using the source address and destination address of the packet hash key searches the multicast forwarding table . And egress forwarders will identify the number of the output port of the packet by searching for the IPv6 multicast output port table , and the number of the port identified by forwarding a copy of the packet . By this, it is separated from the network processor based on the IPv6 multicast packet sender can forward at high speed .
