An EDFA for reducing transient phenomena of an OSNR(Optical Signal to Noise Ratio) and a BER(Bit Error Rate) in a dynamic WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplex) system and an amplifying method thereof are provided to enable an AGC to control a driving voltage of the amplifier so as for a gain value of the amplifier to be constant on the basis of the strength of read light, thereby reducing transient phenomenon of the output of remaining channels, the OSNR and the BER. An EDFA(Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier) comprises the followings: a polarization scrambler(1610) which modulates a polarization state of input light and removes the polarized light; an amplifier(1620) which amplifies the input light from which the polarized light having gain more than 25dB(decibel), power more than 23dB, and gain flatness less than 1dB has been removed; a detector(1630) which reads the strength of input and output light of the amplifier(1620); and an AGC(Automatic Gain Controller)(1640) which controls a driving voltage of the amplifier(1620) on the basis of the strength of the read light so that a gain value of the amplifier(1620) can be constant.
