A product made of brass or bronze coated with ceramic and a coating method are provided to improve mechanical characteristic like wear resistance and low friction property of parts such as valves and pipes by coating the surface of the product with high-hardness ceramic materials. The product made of brass or bronze coated with ceramic is composed of a middle layer formed on the surface and made of metal and a coating layer formed on the middle layer and made of high-hardness ceramic materials. The middle layers and the coating layers are formed in plural layers in turn. Therefore, dezincification is repressed at high temperature and degradation of materials is prevented by coating the surface of the part with ceramic materials with good heat resistance.
