A song selection device using analysis of lyrics and a chord and a method thereof are provided to analyze inputted voice data into two types such as lyrics and a chord if a user inputs a portion of desired song lyrics as a voice through a microphone in order to search data of the most approximate song title so that the user is able to select the song. A microphone(11) inputs a user's voice. An A/D(Analog to Digital) converter(12) converts the inputted analog voice signal into a digital voice signal. A lyrics and musical scale extractor(14) extracts lyrics and a musical scale from voice data converted into the digital signal. Memories(15,16) temporarily store the extracted lyrics and musical scale signals. Lyrics and musical scale data shapers(17,18) extract lyrics and a musical scale of a compared target by cutting the stored lyrics and musical scale signals in a certain measure, and shape the extracted lyrics and scale. Lyrics and musical scale comparators(19,22) compare the shaped lyrics and musical scale signals with digital lyrics and digital musical scales stored in DBs(20,21). A display panel(24) displays titles and numbers of songs in order of approximation ratios in which lyrics and musical scales are identical a lot.
