The LCD display device for keeping the fixed kick-off time and method for controlling the same

An LCD television and a method for controlling the same are provided to prevent the occurrence of error in the LCD television due to the change of kick-off time, by uniformly maintaining the kick-off time. A micro computer(304) increases soft start voltage to preset threshold voltage at a predetermined rate during kick-off time. The micro computer senses the low voltage of the lamp, after the lapse of the kick-off time. A backlight controller(303) turns on or turns off electric power, according to the low voltage of the lamp sensed by the micro computer. The backlight controller turns off the electric power, when the low voltage of the lamp is sensed by the micro computer.
