A mobile router for providing network mobility of a Zigbee network which communicates with an IPv6 node is provided to provide a communication service between a Zigbee device and an IPv6 node or other Zigbee device on other Zigbee network. A mobile router for providing network mobility of a Zigbee network which communicates with an IPv6 node comprises Zigbee protocol stacks(25,26,27) and IPv6 based network mobility protocol stacks(21,22,24). The Zigbee protocol stacks are for communicating with Zigbee devices on the Zigbee network. The IPv6 based network mobility protocol stacks communicates with an IPv6 network, and provides the network mobility of the Zigbee network. A wireless medium layer of the Zigbee protocol stack and that of an IPv6 protocol stack are an interface in accordance with the IEEE 802.15.4 standard and an interface in accordance with the IEEE 802.11 standard, respectively. A network layer of the IPv6 protocol stack includes an address mapping unit, a converter and a binding update unit. The address mapping unit generates a mapping table where an address of an IPv6 network node is mapped with an address of the Zigbee device. The converter converts IPv6 packets of the IPv6 network into Zigbee frames of the Zigbee network, vice versa. The binding update unit updates a list of binding information of CoA(Care of Address) acquired when the Zigbee network moves, and records the updated list.
