An apparatus for tracking solar photovoltaic power using the differential characteristic of the output voltage of a solar cell and its controlling method are provided to prevent an accumulated error, to determine a tracking direction, and to track an exact position. A PV module(22) generates different output current and output voltage according to the change of amount of solar radiation. A tracking unit(20) for solar photovoltaic power includes a driving unit(23). The driving unit drives the PV module according to the output current and output voltage. An A/D(Alternating/Digital) converter(31) converts the output current and the output voltage outputted from the PV module into a digital signal. A control unit(30) outputs a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) control signal programmed according to the signal of the A/D converter. A driver(50) provides a driving signal to the driving unit according to the control signal of the control unit.
