A WAVELENGTH-DIVISION MULTIPLEXED PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK FOR EMBODYING WAVELENGTH-INDEPENDENT OPERATION OF WAVELENGTH-LOCKED FABRY-PEROT LASER DIODES BY INJECTING A LOW NOISE BROADBAND LIGHT SOURCE
A WAVELENGTH-DIVISION MULTIPLEXED PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK FOR EMBODYING WAVELENGTH-INDEPENDENT OPERATION OF WAVELENGTH-LOCKED FABRY-PEROT LASER DIODES BY INJECTING A LOW NOISE BROADBAND LIGHT SOURCE
A WDM(Wavelength-Division Multiplexed) PON(Passive Optical Network) for implementing wavelength-independent operation of a wavelength-locked F-P(Fabry-Perot) LD(Laser Diode) by injecting a low-noise BLS(Broadband Light Source) is provided to enable high speed transmission more than 1Gb/s. A BLS has low-noise characteristics and an optical fiber is used for optical transmission. The first AWG(Arrayed Wavelength Grating) filters light transmitted from the BLS oscillated in plural oscillation modes by the number of 'n', and has a bandwidth larger than that of a single light mode of the BLS. The 'n' number of F-P LDs output wavelength-locked light according to the incoherent light injected through the first AWG. A circulator allows the wavelength-multiplexed light inputted through the first AWG and optical fiber so as to be outputted as bypassing. The second AWG demultiplexes the wavelength-multiplexed light into the 'n' number of groups and has a bandwidth larger than that of the injected incoherent light. The 'n' is the number of output ports of the first AWG or the second AWG or the number of channels of the wavelength-multiplexed signal.
