Galactosylceramide analogs (I) and (II) are new. Galactosylceramide analogs of formula (I) and (II) are new. [Image] X, Y : S or O; R 1, R 29-35C alkyl or 9-25C alkenyl, and R 32-30C alkyl or 2-30C alkenyl. ACTIVITY : Dermatological. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Glucocerebrosidase activator. In assays using human epidermal skin cells, N-[2-(beta -D-galactopyranosylthio)-1-(tetradecylcarbamoyl)ethyl]octadecanoylamine (Ia) at 200 mu mol/l increased glucocerebrosidase activity to 170% of control.
