METHOD FOR SHORTENING PPP ACCESS TIME TO THE CDMA NETWORK WHEN A MOBILE PHONE DOES HANDOVER FROM WCDMA NETWORK TO CDMA NETWORK

A method for shortening the time required for a PPP(Point-to-Point Protocol) connection with a CDMA network in performing handover from a WCDMA network to the CDMA network is provided to reduce a packet data paging loss by previously executing LCP and authentication processes of PPP procedures before moving to a CDMA network when an MM-MB(Multimode-Multiband) terminal performs handover from a WCDMA network to the CDMA network. A MM-MB terminal transmits an LCP(Link Control Protocol) request message to a WCDMA network in order to perform handover to a nearby CDMA network in a state of maintaining a PPP connection with the WCDMA network(S110). The WCDMA network transmits the LCP request to the W-CDMA network by including authentication information informing that the MM-MB terminal has authenticated(S120). The CDMA network detects the authentication information, is changed to a networking state to wait for the MM-MB terminal to perform a networking state through the CDMA network, and transmits an Ack message to the WCDMA network(S130). The WCDMA network transmits the Ack message to the MM-MB terminal(S140). The MM-MB terminal terminates its PPP connection with the WCDMA network and transmits an NCP(Network Control Protocol) request message to the CDMA network in order to attempt a new PPP connection with the CDMA network(S150). The CDMA network performs a process of the networking state to complete the PPP connection with the MM-MB terminal(S160).
