A high-resolution short range radar system of a vehicle based on a virtual array antenna system is provided to simplify the structure by using a simple RF(Radio Frequency) system with good spatial resolution, thereby reducing noise accompanied with a frequency conversion process and improving receiving performance. A high-resolution short range radar system of a vehicle based on a virtual array antenna system is composed of a radar transmitting unit(20) transmitting a radar signal for preventing a vehicle collision and securing safe driving in a millimeter/sub millimeter band; a radar receiving unit(10) receiving the reflected radar signal and outputting the radar signal as a digital signal; and a signal processing unit(30) measuring distance, speed, and azimuth by applying DBF(Digital Beam Forming) technology to the digital signal output from the radar receiving unit. The radar transmitting and receiving units transmit and receive the radar signal by using an antenna array including plural antenna elements. The antenna array is converted into a virtual array antenna in the signal processing unit. The receiving resolution and the number of detected objects are increased by changing the number of the antennas virtually transmitting or receiving the radar signal, through a conversion process applying an algorism using intervals among the antenna elements for actually transmitting or receiving the radar signal.
