A device for preventing sediment from floating in a settling pond, which prevents density current of the settling pond from floating sediments such as floc and the like generated in a coagulation pond onto the surface of water, thereby effectively cutting off the discharge of the sediments through an overflow weir, and the settling pond having the device are provided. A device(1) for preventing sediment from floating in a settling pond(140) comprises: a supporting means(30) installed between walls of the settling pond; and a sediment flotation-blocking means(50) installed on the supporting means such that the sediment flotation-blocking means extends to a lower side of the supporting means to block the flotation of sediment moving along with a density current in the settling pond. The supporting means is disposed posterior to a point at which the density current in the settling pond is changed from a down flow to an up flow so that the blocking means blocks the flotation of sediment moving along with the density current in the settling pond. The supporting means is a supporting bar traversely installed between sidewalls of the settling pond, and the blocking means is a blocking sheet that extends to the lower side of the supporting bar and is formed correspondingly to the width of the settling pond to block the flotation of the sediment.
