The present invention provides a navigation system for performing proper guidance relative to roads wherein a plurality of roadways in the same traveling direction are separated respectively by traffic strips. In this navigation system, a fast roadway 51 and a slow roadway 52 are set distinctively when setting a route, and guidance is performed also by separating the fast roadway 51 from the slow roadway 52 when performing route guidance. An embodiment of the route guidance is shown as follows. After a vehicle loaded with the navigation device starts from a spot A, when approaching a crossing B, a guidance is performed so as to turn right at the crossing B and enter the fast roadway 51. Next, a guidance is performed in front of a crossing C so as to change the roadway at the crossing C and move to the slow roadway 52. Subsequently, a guidance is performed in front of a crossing D so as to change a lane and move to a right lane. Then, when approaching a crossing D, a guidance is performed so as to turn right.
