Cosmetic composition comprising an extract of dandelion or luteolin isolated therefrom having anti-oxidant activity and anti-inflammatory activity

An extract of dandelion or luteolin isolated therefrom is provided to prevent oxidative stress by significantly decreasing the lipid peroxidation and inhibiting the NO formation, thereby being usefully used as a cosmetic composition for preventing and improving diseases and inflammation caused by the oxidative stress. A cosmetic composition comprises 0.001-90 wt.% of an extract of dandelion or luteolin isolated therefrom as an effective ingredient, wherein the extract is obtained by crushing lyophilized dandelion and extracting the crushed dandelion with water, C1-4 lower alcohol, or a mixture thereof at a temperature of 20-120 deg.C for one hour to 10 days.
