COMPOSITION COMPRISING THE SEED EXTRACT OF GREEN TEA HAVING ANTIOXIDANT, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTI-ARTERIOSCLEROSIS ACTIVITY

An extract of green tea seeds is provided to prevent the oxidative stress, coronary sclerosis, and hyperlipidemia caused by high fat dietary by significantly decreasing the lipid peroxidation degree of liver, increasing the SOD activity and the cholesterol concentration of plasma and the liver, thereby being usefully used as a pharmaceutical composition and a health functional food for preventing and treating diseases caused by the oxidative stress and the increase of the cholesterol. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating hypertension, coronary sclerosis, cataract and chronic bronchitis comprises 0.1-50 wt.% of an extract of green tea seed as an effective ingredient, wherein the extract is prepared by crushing pre-treated green tea seeds and extracting the green tea seeds powder with water, C1-4 lower alcohol, or a mixture thereof at a temperature of 20-100 deg.C for one hour to 10 days through a cold-dipping, a hot-water extracting, an ultrasonic wave extracting, or a reflux condensing extracting method.
