Invention relates to using cyclopamine and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts for preparing a pharmaceutical agent for induction of apoptosis of tumor cells that use transfer of Hedgehog/Smoothened signal for prophylaxis of apoptosis. Cyclopamine causes apoptosis by not genotoxic mechanism and therefore it distinguishes from radiation therapy and most of the modern anticancer chemotherapeutic agent that effect inducing DNA damages.
