The essential elements of a total flow resistance of an engine driven heavier than air flying body are determined by the flow resistance induced by airfoils and the engine head resistance. The invention makes it possible to simultaneously reduce said two components. The air suctioning intakes of the boundary layer of the airfoil upper surfaces and the supply thereof to the engines which are covered in a flow-optimising manner, the wing envelops and the lining of the engines make it possible to simultaneously reduce the flow resistance induced by the airfoils and the engine head resistance. Said invention is particularly usable for the flying bodies whose ascending force is produced by airfoils and which are provided with engines mounted on/ or near said airfoils. The economical effect related to fuel, driving power and material savings is in particular important for commercial aeroplanes provided with turbofan jet engines having an especially high bypass flow ratio.
