Rope or cable length indicator e.g. for measuring the length of extension of a crane cable and having a cable tension sensor

The cable or rope length indicator has a measuring line which can be withdrawn against a return force. The line is wound onto a drum and its free end can be attached to an object to be measured. The drum is rotatably mounted in a housing and rotation of the drum is measured by a sensor which provides a measure for the length of cable or rope drawn from the drum. A sensor responsive to a drop in rope tension is connected into the measuring line. Independent claims also cover a line tension sensor.
